Come see the start of the 2011 Iron Dog race! The goal for 2011 is to create a festival or true event feeling where fans, families and friends will want to come see all things snowmachine for several hours of fun!

2010 Pro Class Start

PRO CLASS START SCHEDULE
Sunday, February 20, 2011

Location: Southport Marina, Big Lake, AK
(Map to the new location)

  • 9:05 am | RACE TEAMS must be parked on the ice and start unloading.
    (parking area closes, don’t be late!)
  • 10:00 am | RACE TEAMS MUST BE POSITIONED in the race pit.
  • 10:45 am | Color Guard, National Anthem & Official Start
  • 10:55 am | First team at Start Line
  • 11:00 am | First Green Flag drops and continues in two-minute intervals until the race field is on the course.
  • 12:30 pm  | AMMC’s Iron Pup Kids Races
  • 1:00 pm  | Vintage Snowmobile Shine-N-Show and Races
  • 1:00-4:00 pm | ATV, motorcycle and snowmobile ice racing continues

    at the irondog start could there be a screen with updates, team/time as they go into check points

    I think that’s doable, the big question would be where to put this screen? My hope is that we can get the GPS and stats posting to a TV channel & of course online. GCI Channel 1 for example could run a “live” feed of the online stats – that would be a way to make it viewable in homes, bars, restaurants, etc. /k

    If you could get GCI to post updates would be a great addition for getting more publicity and also keep the people up to date. Would it be possible to get the start showed live and or the halfway point live and also interviews from the garage in Nome and that sort of things involved also?
